WYI develops a five year strategic plan as its road map to achieve its goals. In the process of reducing poverty among women and youth a comprehensive strategic plan enables WYI to play its vanguard role effectively in changing the challenges that face women and youth into opportunities in the coming five years.
The plan has been accomplished in collaboration with Board members, strategic plan committee, targeted groups(Women and Youth) and staff members. The target groups were consulted in order to identify their needs and also they were sensitized on various steps involved in the preparation of strategic plan and its vital importance to the organization.
Strategic plan is a primary tool for WYI because it gives an organization a sense of direction and outlines measurable goals. It guides an organization with a day today decision making and enables us to evaluate the progress and changing approaches when moving forward.
Strategic plan enable us to know where we are, identifying our inner capabilities in terms of strength, weakness, opportunities and threats and how to deal with them so as to attain expected results, it also shows us where we want to go so that we can concentrate on the vital matters and challenges facing our organization.
It also gives us a technique on how we can get where we are supposed to be by creating organization’s identity and contribute to grassroots development. It plays a vital role in the allocation and distribution of resources.Taking into account of the Tanzania development goals, WYI developed the strategic plan with total awareness of the political, social, economic and environmental changes.
The plan identifies six aspects which when worked on can bring tremendous development to women and youth in all spheres.
